Ashby 3 were beaten 3-1 at Lecicester University 1 on Wednesday evening. The Bird Man, promoted from Ashby 5 for the evening, got us off to a good start with an early win on board 4. Steve then proceeded to make a massive blunder on move 14 on board 2 and succumbed in short time. Tom managed to allow his King and Queen to get forked and promptly resigned. Les was the last to finish on board 4 and, a piece down and in a totally lost position, fell on his sword. The match was played using a reduced time control of 70 minutes plus 5 second increments as we had to be out of the room by a certain tme. On the bright side we got back to the Ivanhoe in time for a drink !!
