The 1st team had a great result against Wigston '2', beating them by 3.5 - 1.5, even though Alan and Tom were both absent from the team. We were heavily outgraded on all boards, but excellent wins from Roy Evans and Chris Tipper on boards 1 and 2 against opponents graded 28 and 22 points higher than them, plus draws from Larry, Andrew and John, gave us the points without conceding a single game.
The 3rd team had hopes of getting something out of their match at Wigston '4' as we looked very evenly matched in terms of grades. Unfortunately we were soon put in our place, going 3-0 down before getting a consolation point on board 1.
The 5th team drew 2-2 with Market Harborough '3' but scored two very good wins on boards 1 and 2, where Mick Brown and David Holmes were outgraded by 24 and 20 points respectively. Unfortunately, we were unable to follow this up on boards 3 and 4, where we were very marginally outgraded.
